My sister, Hilary, who gave me the idea for these cinnamon whirls says “The are really cute and provide a touch of sweetness, put a plateful out and the will disappear like strawberries in front of a donkey.” ??? Ever tried that? me neither!
- Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the egg and beat well.
- Add the flour, semolina and vanilla extract and mix together.
- Take half the mixture out of the bowl and roll into an oblong approximately 25 x 15cm. Add the cinnamon to the other half of the dough and mix well. Roll out to the same dimensions on top of a piece of cling film.
- Carefully place one piece of dough on top of the other. Use the clingfilm to help roll up into a long sausage. Squeeze gently together and place in the fridge for an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180ºC fan oven/200ºC/gas 6.
- Take the dough out of the fridge and cut into 1/2 cm slices and place on greased baking trays.
- Cook in the oven for 12 minutes.
